Station 2: Appetite

Experience: Desire | Task: Pay attention | Reward: Direction

Oprah Winfrey

Every time you state what you want or believe, you’re the first to hear it. It’s a message to both you and others about what you think is possible. Don’t put a ceiling on yourself.

Station 2: Appetite

It's easier to focus on what you don't want than on what you do. As soon as you say, "I want that," you throw yourself into a gap. It's there, but you're here. And that's uncomfortable. It's hard to sit with not having what you want; it's easy to want to jump ship. But that would be the wrong choice. Instead see that gap as your playground and create into it.

Application

Questions

  • What awareness did you gain in Station 1?
  • What is the opposite of what you said you don't want in Station 1?
  • What is the quality of your desire? Mentally? Spiritually? Emotionally? Physically?
  • Where do you imagine your desire is leading you?
  • What kind of nourishment are you longing for today?

Exercise

    • "Aha" is just the start of your creating. You steer your success with your attention.
    • Don’t just look for the Aha, the Eureka moment. Give your attention to the gap between what-is and what-could-be. Describe how that vague sense of Hunger in Station 1 is becoming more specific. What are you learning about yourself in the discomfort? What does this tell you about what you most want here?

Actions/Homework

  • Once you begin to identify some pieces of what you want, take 20 minutes first thing in the morning tomorrow and ask this question: How will I know I've arrived?
  • Describe your vision – what you see – in detail. Write it. Draw it. Record it into your phone. Make notes in present tense, first person as if you have it already.
  • Make extra time to expand on your vision in the next seven days.
