There’s a wonderful quote circulating the Internet right now:
“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
It was Martin Luther King, Jr. who said it first. He changed the United States with his dreams, and showed the rest of us what is possible when we dare to be who we are, dream our dreams and work for them. We all make a difference.
Creativity is the act of being who you truly are in the world and expressing that in whatever medium you work in. It might be painting, and it might be politics. Your audience might be your customers, and it might be your family. The creative life is as natural as breathing and as powerful as the tomato growing on the vine.
Personal Transformation Secrets
Yet many of you may find yourselves locked in inertia. Perhaps life has dealt you a disappointing blow. Perhaps you feel your chance to live a meaningful life has passed. Perhaps you think you’re somehow lacking what it takes. Perhaps you can’t even hear your deepest longings anymore.
To you, I offer this simple set of secrets I’ve learned the hard way. Overcome these four mistakes, and you truly can create the future of your dreams.
- Failure to dream big. Dreams ignite the passion that inspires your future. Set aside time to see and feel what you long for, to clarify your authentic vision.
- Failure to make a plan. A distant dream always seems unreachable at first. See your destination on the horizon from where you are today and create a roadmap of steps to get there.
- Failure to work your plan. There are times in every creative process when it seems you’re lost, and you feel like giving up. Create a timeline, and engage someone to hold you accountable.
- Failure to recalibrate your position. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. Learn to be flexible, to respond to the unexpected with agility and speed.
Which one of these mistakes is your greatest challenge?
What will you commit to do today to overcome it.

Katherine says
I have no problem dreaming big. Sometimes ideas come so fast, I have to say, “Stop!” And, after close to 30 years of self-employment, I have no difficulty making a plan. But my challenges come in implementation. For one thing, I am often distracted by trying to handle too many things myself. For the other, there is finding the willingness to let go of how I thought it was supposed to look and move instead into ‘what is’.
So, today, I am focusing on one thing: completion of the technical system that allows me to deliver my Daily Centering Meditation to new visitors who want to know more. Putting it out there to you now gives me the added focus of accountability.
Now, over to you!
