Creativity is the latest buzzword of success literature. When you hear the word Creativity, where does your mind take you next? Beneath all its external applications, I say Creativity is the gem of humanity, buried in the bedrock of our lives. It is up to us to dig it up and put it to use, in whatever ways our lives require.

Today, as floodwaters sweep people’s lives away in some of the Earth’s most beautiful countries, my heart is swirling with sadness, concern and gratitude. Destruction is an essential part of the creative process of Life. We participate in this process, but we do not control it.
another year… another day
This week, in the afterglow, I have been contemplating the idea of New Year’s Resolutions. It’s a big topic of conversation here in England; seems the young people generally answer yes, while the older ones just say no. I have been a big fan of the idea for years: “Rah Rah, I Resolve.” This year; it doesn’t quite fit. I’m looking for another word.
getting home for the holidays… with the angels among us
Today, after my own horrendous 36-hour trip from France to England, I can’t help thinking of all the others like me, stranded between familiar shores trying to get home for the holidays. This is for you, and for the angels among you.
the new thing for christmas
We cannot bring forth anything that counts in life unless we let Life penetrate us. And yet, we live with so much resistance, so much fear of allowing that. This morning, in my yoga-softened body, I could feel the gifts of these years. I felt my receptivity, my openness, my desire, my longing. I have longed for Life itself, and the feeling of taking it in like a really deep breath. I have allowed Life to penetrate me and to awaken the seed of The New Thing in my heart, time and time again.

Remembrance Sunday. Today, as I watch those who have survived unspeakable hardship honor those who have not survived, I am humbled by their uncommon humanity. …What does your life ask you today that requires your courage? How will you respond?
